After its personnel and operational structure were exposed, the IRGC's overseas assassination network changed its name from Unit 840 to Unit 600.
Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani appointed Mojtaba Hagh-Lesan, 64, who previously served as the unit's intelligence chief. Hagh-Lesan replaces Yazdan Mir, also known as Haj Asghar Bagheri, eliminated in an Israeli strike on April 6.
The unit has been tied to plots against Iranian dissidents, journalists, former senior U.S. officials, and Israelis abroad.
