Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz links the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Around a fifth of the world's oil passes through it, which makes any incident here — a seized tanker, a mine, a drone attack or a naval stand-off — a global story within hours.
This page brings together the latest reports from the strait and its approaches, UKMTO maritime security warnings, and naval and merchant vessel positions on a live map.
