BREAKING | 🇪🇸 Violent clashes broke out in central Barcelona tonight after a youth gathering inspired by recent student protests in France.
Masked groups set fire to bins and improvised barricades, smashed shop windows and looted several stores around Plaça Catalunya.
Catalan riot police moved in to disperse the groups, with several arrests reported.
The gathering had been promoted online under the "Instituts Indignats" banner, but quickly descended into violence.
