Bulgarian Air Force and Navy are tracking the dry cargo ship M/V EMIL in the Black Sea after it was struck by Russian drones near Odesa on August 5, leaving the vessel drifting without a crew.

The strike caused a fire and technical failures, leaving the ship unable to manoeuvre. Its crew abandoned the vessel, which has since been drifting south through Romania’s exclusive economic zone toward Bulgaria’s.

Bulgarian military personnel located EMIL during a reconnaissance mission around 40 km east of Cape Shabla. The Navy has warned vessels in the area about the uncrewed ship, while authorities continue to monitor its movements.
