Following reports that a renewed Yemeni government/Yemeni government-aligned forces offensive against the Houthis was in the works, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) President Dr. Rashad Mohamed Al-Alimi has announced renewed offensive operations against the Houthis. Yemeni government forces suffered a notable defeat in the last months following a Houthi counterattack that saw them gain control of key cities and terrain adjacent to the strategically important maritime choke point of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
