IDF: Izz al-Din al-Bik, commander of Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade, "commanded the captivity of Israeli hostages during the war." He was killed in a strike in Gaza City on Tuesday, and the finding follows "extensive intelligence research."
Hostages held under his responsibility: Mia Schem, Hisham al-Sayed, Amit Buskila, Uriel Baruch, Cpl. Nik Beizer, Sgt. Ron Sherman, Elia Toledano, Shani Louk, Michel Nisenbaum, Staff Sgt. Tamir Nimrodi, Yitzhak Gelerenter, Eitan Levy, Hanan Yablonka, Ron Benjamin and Orion Hernandez.
Bik took the brigade command after Ahmed Ghandour was killed by Israel on November 10, 2023. He previously served as the brigade's chief of intelligence and commander of the Western Jabalia Battalion.
The IDF says he commanded and took part in the infiltration into Israel on October 7, 2023.
