Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in a statement on his website, ordered commanders to meet "any level or type of threat" with an "immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response." He also directed them to expand the target list to "all types of tangible and intangible assets belonging to the American-Zionist enemy."
The orders came at his first reported meeting with chief of staff Ali Abdollahi, army chief Amir Hatami and IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi.
Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia:
"The flames of war will undoubtedly engulf a much wider geographical area."
