IRGC CLAIMS 2 OIL TANKERS STRUCK NAVAL MINES IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ

The IRGC Navy claims 2 oil tankers, including a supertanker reportedly still burning, struck “naval mines” while attempting to pass through an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the IRGC, both vessels had disabled their navigation and identification systems and were attempting to transit the strait with U.S. military support.

CAUTION: These claims remain unverified. The IRGC has previously attributed vessel strikes to naval mines when evidence pointed to drones or anti-ship missiles. Other reported attacks were never independently confirmed.

So far, we are aware of only 1 reported incident involving a vessel.

The tug and supply vessel Selat Storm (IMO 9266657) was reportedly struck by an unidentified projectile.

There is currently no independent confirmation that 2 oil tankers struck naval mines, as the IRGC claims.
