A container ship went down this morning in the southern waters of the Strait of Hormuz. It was carrying more than 2,500 containers when it struck a naval mine, exploded and caught severe fire. The sinking was blamed on the intensity of the blaze.
The IRGC called the vessel a violator that intended to cross what it described as an unauthorized and highly dangerous path.
