MORE INFO: A 14 year old was killed and 24 wounded on a school hike in the Upper Galilee this morning.
Students from ORT Ma'alot Yeshiva High School stopped near the Mitzpe Pe'er lookout on Ramim Ridge. One boy found an unexploded submunition on the ground and put it in his backpack. It detonated minutes later.
The military believes it was a BRB1 submunition from a 122mm Grad rocket Hezbollah fired at northern Israel during the war. Two 14 year olds are in serious condition with shrapnel wounds.
Police Commissioner Danny Levy: the route had been approved and swept. Hiking there is restricted for several days.
