MORE INFO: Some Israeli officials say the incident was not a hijacking but a physical confrontation between the pilots.
Unverified reports from Iran’s Tasnim News Agency allege that one pilot attempted suicide by putting the plane into a steep dive, prompting the other pilot to stab him to stop the attack. Israeli passengers intervened to help prevent a crash. This is also reportedly Israel’s current assessment, though the details have not been independently verified.
