NEW: 🇫🇷 A fire broke out this morning aboard France’s nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle at the naval base in Toulon during ongoing maintenance work.
The fire was reportedly caused by torch-cutting work in a technical compartment. It was brought under control shortly after noon and declared extinguished at 1:50 p.m.
No injuries have been reported, and French authorities say there was no impact on the carrier’s nuclear installations. An investigation is underway.
