NEW | 🇬🇧🇮🇷 British counterterrorism police have re-arrested two men in the investigation into suspected Iranian-linked activity near RAF Fairford, the airbase used by US bombers during the war against Iran.

The suspects are a 24-year-old British national, originally detained near the base on September 27, and a 25 year old British-Iranian national arrested in London on October 1.

Both had previously been released on bail. They are now being held on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service under the UK's National Security Act.

Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor says investigators still consider Iranian state involvement “highly likely,” but are working to establish its extent and objectives.

Iran has denied involvement.

Five other men remain on bail, and no formal charges have been announced.

The investigation is increasingly focused on possible foreign intelligence involvement.
