NEW: Polish prosecutors have launched an investigation into a suspected Russian-linked sabotage plot targeting a factory producing military drones used by Ukraine.

The suspected target was a Flytronic facility in Gliwice, southern Poland, owned by WB Group, the country’s largest privately owned defence manufacturer. According to reports, a recruiter operating under the pseudonym “Joker” offered $30,000 to arrange an arson attack on the facility.

The case emerged after a journalist from Vot Tak, a TVP World sister channel, posed as a Belarusian job seeker and contacted the recruiter through Telegram. The recruiter initially offered payment for setting fire to vehicles with Ukrainian licence plates before proposing the larger attack. Vot Tak reportedly traced the Telegram account to a Russian telephone number registered in the Saratov region.

Polish prosecutors confirmed that an investigation had been opened into the suspected recruitment of an individual to carry out sabotage on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. The case has been referred to Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW).

Flytronic manufactures FlyEye reconnaissance drones used by Ukrainian forces, including for artillery reconnaissance and targeting. Its parent company, WB Group, also produces Warmate loitering munitions.
