NEW | 🇬🇧🇸🇦 The UK has approved RAF Typhoon missions to help defend Saudi cities and critical infrastructure against Houthi drones and missiles.
The new package also includes an A400M transport aircraft, British military advisers and a 90-day extension of air-to-air refuelling support for Saudi forces.
British Typhoons will not conduct offensive strikes against the Houthis.
However, the UK government acknowledges that its refuelling support also covers Saudi air operations aimed at Houthi military targets inside Yemen.
In other words, Britain's planned fighter patrols are defensive, while its wider military support can also sustain Saudi operations across the border.
