NEW | 🇺🇸 The USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group is heading toward the Middle East, where the USS George Washington and USS George H.W. Bush are already operating.
Washington has also deployed the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, potentially joining the Boxer group and its 11th MEU.
That could temporarily put three carrier strike groups and two Marine expeditionary units in the region.
Question is: the Roosevelt arriving as an additional combat force or to replace the George Washington?
Earlier reporting suggested a relief mission while US officials have also described plans for a possible three carrier surge.
