Report: The first call between a Syrian president and an Israeli prime minister since 1948 came on July 16, and it was an ultimatum.
Netanyahu told Al-Shara to pull Syrian forces out of Sweida by 10 PM. Failure to comply meant intensified Israeli bombing and further military action.
Al-Shara asked for 48 hours to deal with it. The request was refused.
