Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has extended the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to complete procedures verifying "the safety and operational readiness of the airport’s facilities."
The suspension follows successive days of deadly Houthi attacks on the airport. A missile strike Saturday killed at least 12 people, including an American citizen, and wounded 309, according to GACA, the deadliest attack on Saudi Arabia in more than a decade. Another attack Sunday evening caused further injuries. Attacks on King Khalid and Abha airports from Tuesday through Thursday killed six people. Several international airlines have suspended flights to Riyadh.
