Secretary of War Pete Hegseth looks over 'victory marks' on the hull of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), with “EPIC FURY” painted above rows of ship and drone silhouettes. Victory marks are a long military tradition for recording combat results, and aircraft from the Lincoln’s air wing have returned with similar ones, including a submarine silhouette on a VFA 41 Super Hornet.

Hegseth visited the carrier at sea yesterday to present the strike group with the Presidential Unit Citation. He said it sank 64 Iranian vessels, shot down 77 one way attack drones, destroyed 21 anti ship cruise missiles and launched 450 Tomahawk missiles during Operation Epic Fury.

The Lincoln returned to San Diego today after a 321 day deployment, the second longest of a U.S. carrier since the Vietnam War.
