The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Navy (IRGC-N) has claimed responsibility for attacks on seven vessels in the past day who Iran claims violated regulations for transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In a notable shift, the IRGC-N says it struck four vessels simultaneously while they were conducting ship-to-ship transfers in the Persian Gulf. Iran has recently blamed many incidents on sea mines, a claim the U.S. disputes, saying missiles and drones are responsible. The statement says the other three vessels struck mines west of the Strait of Hormuz overnight, claiming all seven are on fire.

The IRGC-N also warned that continued efforts to move vessels through routes Tehran considers prohibited could provoke attacks on U.S. bases in the region.
