The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center has issued a warning after a company security officer reported that a tanker was struck by two unknown projectiles impacting the engine room at about 1900 UTC (2 p.m. ET), approximately 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman. No casualties or environmental impact have been reported so far.
It is at least the third vessel reportedly struck in the Lima area in under two weeks, after a tanker on October 22 and another vessel Sunday. On Monday, a separate tanker was also hit by two unidentified projectiles in the Arabian Gulf, 72 nautical miles east of Ras Al Khafji, Saudi Arabia.
