UPDATE: 🇳🇱 Albert Heijn is investigating a suspected hacking attack after its cybersecurity team detected suspicious traffic and shut down parts of its IT systems to prevent further intrusion.

According to sources in the security sector, investigators have identified servers in the United States, Poland, Moldova and Turkey linked to the attack. Servers belonging to Ahold Delhaize’s US operations may also be involved, although this has not been confirmed.

Cybersecurity experts say the attackers may have been attempting to map Albert Heijn’s systems or steal data. However, it remains unclear how far the attack progressed or whether hackers gained access before the shutdown.

Albert Heijn says no customer data appears to have been compromised and has declined to disclose further technical details while the investigation continues.

The incident has caused major disruption to the Netherlands’ largest supermarket chain, taking its website, apps and customer service offline and affecting distribution centres. Store deliveries have reportedly resumed, while parent company Ahold Delhaize is working on a controlled restart of its systems.
