UPDATE | 🇮🇱 Israel's Arab-led Ra’am party has announced it will recommend Gadi Eisenkot to President Isaac Herzog for the task of forming the next government.
With Ra’am’s eight lawmakers, Eisenkot now has 56 publicly announced endorsements, according to The Times of Israel. Netanyahu’s political bloc holds 53 seats, although not all have formally committed to recommending him.
Herzog has begun consultations with the newly elected parties, but neither candidate has the 61 seats needed for a parliamentary majority.
Eisenkot previously ruled out bringing Ra’am into his government, while his ally Avigdor Liberman opposes forming a minority government.
