UPDATE: 🇵🇱 The emergency meeting at Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) Counterterrorism Centre in Warsaw has now ended.
Polish authorities say information about a potential assassination attempt targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is considered highly credible, following an assessment by the country’s security services.
Officials confirmed that the report was received by email and forwarded to police through the State Protection Service (SOP). The meeting brought together ABW, police and SOP representatives to coordinate further action.
Polish security officials stressed that they are treating the threat with the utmost seriousness, citing a high likelihood that the reported threats could be carried out. However, authorities have not disclosed the alleged attack plan or confirmed the identity of the person who submitted the report.
Officials also refused to say whether the sender is an adult or a minor, explaining that police are actively investigating and that further details could compromise the investigation.
The government says the information was made public to prevent speculation and ensure that citizens receive verified information from official sources.
Authorities have not announced any arrests. The State Protection Service continues to ensure the Prime Minister’s security as the investigation proceeds.
